Matt truly was my best friend. My husband. My rock.

We were together for 5 years, married for 5 months and I know we would have one day been celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We did not get anywhere nearly enough time together but I am so grateful for every moment we had.

The day I married Matt was the happiest of my life and I feel so lucky that we got to share those incredible memories with all our family and friends. Matt was actually in the middle of a round of chemotherapy on our wedding day, not that anyone would have known, he was so vibrant and full of life. I am so proud to be able to call him my husband.

Matt was the funniest, strongest and bravest man I have ever, and will ever, know. Despite being the one suffering, his determination, optimism and often twisted sense of humour is what kept me, and those closest to him, afloat throughout these last 3 years. He kept me laughing right until the very end. He fought so long and hard for life and a future for us and for this, I cannot thank him enough. If love alone could have willed him back to full health, he would still be with me today.

I will love and miss him every day of my life.
